Integra de manera armónica y complementaria al modelo de una organización según su naturaleza y necesidades económicas, aportando al bienestar de sí misma, y a sus partes interesadas. La implementación de un SGA para la institución Casa de Protección a la Niñez “Mundo Nuevo”, es una oportunidad de generar ventajas competitivas frente a otras organizaciones del sector, mejorando sus procesos, optimizando recursos, garantizando el cumplimiento normativo y mejorando su desempeño ambiental. El trabajo presentado a continuación comprende una la revisión y mejora del Sistema de Gestión Ambiental (SGA), tomando como referente la NTC-ISO 14001:2015. La institución tiene como objetivo principal velar por el cuidado y bienestar de los niños y adolescentes que hacen parte de la institución “Mundo Nuevo” y se encuentran regidos por el Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar (ICBF). La Casa de Protección a la Niñez “Mundo Nuevo” actualmente cuenta con un sistema de gestión ambiental; dicho sistema no cuenta con una certificación vigente, pero es una institución comprometida con ayudar a cuidar y valorar los recursos naturales de los cuales se están proveyendo para sus actividades diarias, como lo son consumo de agua potable, consumo de energía eléctrica para el funcionamiento de distintas áreas de trabajo. La realización de la revisión y mejora del SGA en esta Institución se realizó en tres fases. En la primera fase, se encontraron falencia en la documentación necesaria para la actualización, los programas carecían de indicadores y otros métodos de evaluación de desempeño, en el desarrollo de la segunda fase, se encontró que los parámetros actuales del SGA, no cumplían con la NTC-ISO 14001:2015, con el diseño de la DOFA, se evidenció que la principal fortaleza fue el Compromiso de la alta gerencia con los cambios que demanda la sostenibilidad ambiental, y la principal debilidad eran las escasas capacitaciones sobre temas ambientales, y finalmente en la tercera fase, se plantearon dos protocolos, el primero de recolección de aguas lluvias y el segundo de recolección de aceite usado, además de esto se diseñó la política ambiental de La Casa de Protección a la Niñez “Mundo Nuevo”.An Environmental Management System (EMS) is a set of activities that help an organization to guide, strengthen management, give direction, articulate and align together different processes that make it up in relation to its environmental management. It integrates harmoniously and complementary to the model of an organization according to its nature and economic needs, contributing to the well-being of itself, and its stakeholders. The implementation of an EMS for the institution Casa de Protección a la Niñez “Mundo Nuevo” is an opportunity to generate competitive advantages over other organizations in the sector, improving their processes, optimizing resources, guaranteeing regulatory compliance and improving their environmental performance. The work presented below comprises a review and improvement of the Environmental Management System (EMS), taking as reference the NTC-ISO 14001: 2015. The institution's main objective is to ensure the care and well-being of children and adolescents who are part of the "Mundo Nuevo" institution and are governed by the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF). The Child Protection House "Mundo Nuevo" currently has an environmental management system, this system does not have a current certification, but it is an institution committed to helping care for and value the natural resources that are being provided for their daily activities, such as consumption of drinking water, consumption of electrical energy for the operation of different work areas. The review and improvement of the EMS in this Institution was carried out in three phases. In the first phase, deficiencies were found in the documentation necessary for updating, the programs had a lack of indicators and other performance evaluation methods, in the development of the second phase, it was found that the current parameters of the EMS did not comply with the NTC-ISO 14001: 2015, with the design of the SWOT, it was evidenced that the main strength was the Commitment of senior management to the changes demanded by environmental sustainability, and the main weakness was Scarce training on environmental issues, and finally in the third phase, two protocols were proposed, the first one for collecting rainwater and the second for collecting used oil.
