Estrategias de aprendizaje respeto al nivel de proficiencia: Una mirada desde los egresados de la Licenciatura en Educación Básica con Énfasis en Lenguas Extranjeras de la Unidad Central del Valle del Cauca

Abstract

The following degree work sought to analyze the incidence of learning strategies used by graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree of Basic Education with Emphasis in Foreign Languages of the Unidad Central del Valle del Cauca regarding their level of proficiency, in this specific case, English level. For this reason, it is within the research line about learning processes of foreign languages. On the other hand, the population of the following research project consisted of 145 graduates of the 14 promotions from 2010 to 2018, however, a sample of only 47 graduates of that population was selected, determined by the following selection criteria: First of all, the graduates participating in the study had to have an international standardized test that would certify their level of English taking into account the Common European Framework. Secondly, the graduates had to work as teachers of English both from bilingual and non-bilingual schools, as well as certified language institutes and finally, the participants had to be residing in the country; after that, different techniques were used that allowed not only to collect the necessary information, but also to organize and analyze the results obtained with the application of the instrument called SILL (Strategy Inventory Language for Learning) created by Rebecca Oxford, in this way, relate it to the general objective of the research project and finally establish the learning strategies most used by the graduates in relation to their level of proficiency in English. El presente trabajo de investigación buscó analizar la incidencia de las estrategias de aprendizaje que utilizaron los egresados de la Licenciatura en Educación Básica con Énfasis en Lenguas Extranjeras de la Unidad Central del Valle del Cauca con respecto a su nivel de proficiencia, en este caso específico, nivel de inglés. Por tal razón se encuentra dentro de la línea de investigación sobre procesos de aprendizaje de las lenguas extranjeras. Por otro lado, la población del siguiente trabajo investigativo estuvo conformada por 145 egresados de las 14 promociones desde el año 2010 hasta el año 2018, sin embargo, se seleccionó una muestra únicamente de 47 egresados de esa población, determinada por los siguientes criterios de selección: En primer lugar, los egresados participantes del estudio debían tener una prueba estandarizada internacional que certificara su nivel de inglés a la luz del Marco Común Europeo. Seguidamente, los egresados debían desempeñarse como docentes de inglés tanto de colegios bilingües como no bilingües, así como en institutos de Idiomas certificados y finalmente, los participantes debían encontrarse residiendo en el país; posteriormente, se emplearon diversas técnicas que permitieron no solo recolectar la información necesaria, sino también, organizar y analizar los resultados obtenidos con la aplicación del instrumento llamado SILL (Strategy Inventory Language for Learning) creado por la autora Rebecca Oxford, para de esta manera, relacionarlo con el objetivo general del trabajo investigativo y finalmente establecer las estrategias de aprendizaje más empleadas por los egresados en relación con su nivel de proficiencia en Inglés.
