| spa |
| dc.description.abstractenglish | In the present study, we proposed to identify the response of the autonomic nervous system through the parameters of heart rate variability in CrossFit® competitors between 18 and 25 years old from the municipality of Tuluá. Three measurements of the parameters of heart rate variability at rest, blood pressure and heart rate at rest were recorded for 12 weeks, with one-month intervals. The parameters were assessed for five minutes in the supine position to 27 physically active and healthy mixed-race men. The results showed statistically significant changes (p = .05) in the RMSSD and LF/HF domains during the three recordings, although there were no statistical changes in the HF variable. On the other hand, statistically significant changes (p = .05) were observed in the variable PNN% and a coefficient of determination (η²) of .198, as well as an optimal response in the average RR waves in the three recordings, which concludes that, the practice of Crossfit® improves global HRV, indicating cardiovascular health. However, there is a percentage imbalance in the LF/HF variable, showing a sustained activity of the sympathetic system in the second and third measures, which may reflect overtraining syndrome in the long term due to the cumulative loads in the development of WODs. | eng |
